Designing for Women was created by Barbara Natali, a designer and front-end developer, who is interested in collaboratively creating solutions to issues of inequality between men and women. She has organized a variety of events in Uganda and San Francisco where women can get together to talk about their experiences and brainstorm ways they would want to intervene in problematic areas.
The “design” aspect of Designing for Women is applied in a broad sense. It can be apps, campaigns, events, experiences, websites, movies, etc. The focus is primarily on tech related solutions, but the events have seen a wide range of innovative ideas. Some of the designs have been proposed as concepts, but a few are being further developed by interested parties.
This site is a way to continue the conversations, ideas, and communities that have developed during these events and expand upon them.
